SLAVE. DAYS AND NIGHTS OF 1821
1816-1829. Patras, Tripoli, Nafplio, MessolonghiFrom the moment that Angelis found himself imprisoned in Sahin Aga’s chicken coop, a venomous snake of hate began to slither and coil in his soul.
During his explosive and at the same time seductive life, he is taken into the servitude of a tortuous and tight-fisted peddler with a knack for selling coal for gold. He is tortured by the leaden weight of slavery and the humiliation of servitude. He falls in love with Kerasia, in whose image dreams swim and dance and he joins the cause along with rebels and fighters who become more than brothers and spouse in the hour of battle… Along the way his path is crossed by many, elders, seducers, diabolical strangers…
Angelis lives through the grandeur and the darkness of blood stained 1821, tearing down myths and revealing hidden truths. Held tight within the embrace of the revolution, he finds hope in brutality as he calls out: “I won’t be a slave to anyone, a slave to nothing!”
